We've had the allotment site since last October and have done quite a lot of digging. But a lot more is to be done - the people who had it before us had left it quite unmanaged... And bindweed has taken it over completely! So a lot of digging and weeding and getting rid of roots to be done...
We are hoping to build some raised beds at the bottom of the site, and have some 'traditional' growing areas too, maybe even a greenhouse!

what is this obsession with 'raised beds'...do you have apotential water-logging problem or do you feel that this is what a 'proper' garden bed is like? Or simply because you are introducing more soil?
Hi anonymous,
being first time allomenters we want to try out different ways of managing our allotment, weeds and slugs.
There are also other reasons for the raised beds, e.g. there has been flooding at the lower end of the alloment site... hopefully this summer will be better than last year but not trusting on that...We are also introducing more soil as the soil is quite clay-like. And I (/we) do like the look of raised beds.
But, we'll see if get those done for this summer as the van is taking up a lot of time and money at the moment...
ps. thanks for leaving our first comment but also a name/nick would be nice to hear ;)
